30 Second Faces: A love letter to our Advertising Kings and Queens

When I decided to make the book I originally wanted to include the ‘commercial kombat’ series I did earlier this year, as it felt aligned with the theme of the book, but they didn’t fit in alone as one-off pieces alongside a bunch of stories.
So I went about finding a way to fit them into a new story, a story about trust, familiarity, and the way Aotearoa adopted these advertising faces as minor local celebrities, that whether we like to admit it or not, eventually fell in love with.
And it came out as a rather wholesome story, that’s immediately undercut with a very silly epilogue. enjoy ‘30 Second Faces’:
