A Deep Dive (or finger dip?) Into Raro

Moisten those finger tips and take a trip down memory lane as we explore the sesame street drug known as 'Raro'

It’s time to take a break from politics and deep dive into a staple Kiwi food item that united, and sometimes divided, the playground during the 2000s: Raro.

While on tour, DARTZ drummer Rollyz and I were reminiscing about the days in primary/intermediate when dipping fingers into raw sachets of Raro was a craze. I noted this down as a potential comic idea, another deep dive into a Kiwi Kid summer staple, much like the comic I did earlier this year with the humble School Pool.

Now, I initially didn’t think there was much of an idea there that justified a full-length (five-slide) comic. But once I got some inspiration, it turned into a silly little ode to that budget-friendly summer drink icon that also somehow touches on the Reagan-era war on drugs, divorced parents (lil’ trauma humor here), and The Godfather.
