No, i'm not suffering a stroke, I've managed to neatly tie Labubus and Politics together.

If I know my audience, I feel I can be certain of one thing: You probably don’t know what Labubus are. Well, they’re essentially Beanie Babies for Gen Z. They’re collectible monster dolls that have become a huge fad, becoming well sought after and fashionable, often clipped to bags or belt loops.

If you are a visual learner, they look like this:

The Monsters: 10 Things To Know About The Beloved Labubu
Socialist gathering of Labubus, singing Billy Bragg and discussing Karl Marx, I assume.

When I put the call out on Instagram asking what fashion trends and brands I should go after for my “fashion month” series, Labubus was the most common answer. I’ll be honest with you, I also had no fucking clue what a Labubu was. It pains me to say, once I saw what they were, and got the idea for this comic, I did quite a deep dive into them, and that’s an hour of my life I’ll never get back.

Now, before you say, “Danz, I’m only here for the hard-hitting political commentary,” don’t fear. Believe it or not, I have managed to miraculously tie a comic about Labubus into a core political issue. I surprised even myself with my ability to pull this off.

If you’re a paid subscriber, enjoy this full comic in which I manage to blend politics with a viral fashion fad. If you’re a free subscriber, I hope the above description and the below preview manage to get you over the line and come to the glorious world of supporting the arts and reaping the benefits of my unhinged imagination.

Without further ado, here’s my take on Labubus:
